Theoretical framework: The Gratitude Questionnaire-6 (GQ-6) is a brief self-report measure of dispositional gratitude. It assesses individual differences in the tendency to experience and express gratitude.
Reliability: Published descriptions report good internal reliability for the GQ-6, with Cronbach's alpha values generally reported in the .82–.87 range.
Validity: Published research has examined relationships between GQ-6 scores and constructs including optimism, life satisfaction, hope, spirituality/religiousness, forgiveness, empathy, prosocial behaviour, depression, anxiety, materialism, and envy. The GQ-6 is a measure of dispositional gratitude and is not a diagnostic instrument.
Standardization population: The published reference benchmarks are based on 1,224 adults who completed the GQ-6 as part of a Spirituality and Health Web Site feature.
