What these tests measure
Big Five tests measure openness to experience, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness and neuroticism. Longer versions add facet scores, such as anxiety, orderliness or artistic interests, that show how each trait plays out in detail.
All versions here are drawn from the public-domain International Personality Item Pool.
Who it is for
Anyone who wants a research-based personality profile.
How to use your result
Your score is a snapshot of how you have been feeling or behaving recently. It is meant for self-reflection, education and research and is not a diagnosis or medical advice. Where a scale has no published norm entered on PsiQ, we do not invent one, so you will see raw scores rather than made-up percentiles.
Frequently asked questions
What does OCEAN stand for?+
Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness and Neuroticism.
How many questions should I answer?+
The 50-item version takes about 10 minutes. The 120-item version gives 30 facets in about 20 minutes, and the 300-item IPIP-NEO is the most detailed.
Is a high neuroticism score bad?+
No trait is good or bad in itself. Higher neuroticism means more frequent negative emotions such as worry, which can be a strength in some situations and a burden in others.
