What these tests measure
The RAADS-R and RAADS-14 are self-report screening scales developed for adults who may have unrecognised autism spectrum traits. The Camouflaging Autistic Traits Questionnaire (CAT-Q) measures how much people hide or compensate for social differences, and the schiZotypy Autism Questionnaire is a research tool that looks at overlapping traits.
Scores from these tools are not diagnostic. Autism is diagnosed by trained clinicians using structured interviews, developmental history and observation.
Who it is for
Adults who recognise themselves in descriptions of autistic experience and want to understand their traits before speaking to a clinician.
How to use your result
Your score is a snapshot of how you have been feeling or behaving recently. It is meant for self-reflection, education and research and is not a diagnosis or medical advice. Where a scale has no published norm entered on PsiQ, we do not invent one, so you will see raw scores rather than made-up percentiles.
Frequently asked questions
Is an online autism test reliable?+
Screening scales such as the RAADS-R were developed and studied in clinical research, but an online result is only a starting point. A qualified professional must make any diagnosis.
What is masking or camouflaging?+
Masking means consciously or unconsciously hiding autistic traits, for example by copying other people's social behaviour. It can be tiring and can make autism harder to recognise.
What should I do after a high score?+
Consider speaking to a psychiatrist or clinical psychologist experienced in adult autism assessment. Your printed results can help you describe your experiences.
